Pale in colour with prominent hoppy palate and full flavoured finish, Golden Newt is a pale session bitter of 4.1% ABV cask and 4.6% ABV in bottle.
The beer has a prominent hop character; a blend of Fuggles, Goldings and Cascade has been used in the recipe to bring the delicate hop flavour and aroma to the fore. The use of Cascade gives a pleasing citrus aroma.
Finest pale Maris Otter malt has been used to provide a full flavoured beer. The lavish use of late hop dominates the malt flavour and results in a satisfying pint.

(bottle) Hazy, golden colur with a medium-sized, minimal off-white foamy head. Flowery and lemon-fruity, slightly zesty hops aroma with a moderate malty sweetness. Bitter-sweet flavour, light bodied with a calm carbonation. Pale malty taste with traces of biscuits and a blend of fruity, bitter and woody hops; initially dry character that sweetens towards the rather short finish. Cask (handpump) @ Waggon & Horses, 39 High Street, Milton, Cambridgeshire, England CB4 6DF.Clear medium amber color with a average, fizzy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, toasted, caramel, moderate hoppy, flowers, citrus. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20090420]

[50cl bottle from Morrisons.] Straw with a ring a white head; sour grain aroma with a hint of citrus; prickly in the mouth with a sweet caramel flavour at frst and then some grapefruit bitterness. Clean and satisfying finish.

Bottled@Monks Café, Stockholm. Pale ambery orange golden colour with small beigeish head. Aroma is hops, mild herbs, grass and some mild notes of caramel. Flavour is hops, grass, mild caramel along with some wood and sap (not as sweet as birch sap though). Mild grassyness in finish.

Tap at The Mitre in Ely Court, London. Tap handle said 4.5. Well balanced dry palate with prominent bitterness with a slightly fruity depth to finish. Lightly hazy gold tones - deep gold. Note from 2004.

Bottle, shared by fonefan. A clear, golden beer with a decent off-white head. Butterscotch, pale malt, some cookies and a citrusy hoppyness in the aroma. The flavor is much the same, finishing with citrus and some bitterness. Medium lenght. Medium body. Far from a winner, but quite drinkable and with some refreshing qualities. 50 cL bottle. Pours clear and golden yellow with a lacing white head. Mild spiced and cornish dry aroma. Citric and mild sweet flavour with a hoppy spice note. Vegetable note too. Dry herbal finish ad bitter.
