This unique incarnation of The Statement is made with Lutowka Morello-type cherries from Poland. The taste is definitely cherry, but more focused, brighter and with a touch more acidity than our standard Balaton version. It is delicious in its own singular way, and is demonstrative of the subtle but notable differences in flavors that can be achieved by using different fruit variations.

Lovely strong honey and cherry nose, thick sweetness, some almond notes come through as well as the tart cherries. Really well balanced, not too sweet at all.

Bottle from Chris D: pours deep maroon with no head. Aroma is luscious cherry and delicate but profound honey. Taste is sweet, subdued honey, but with great cherry surup. Quite nice.

24/12/21: Side by side with regular. Looks darker, slightly more purple, thicker. Smell is similar to base, just a tad more chocolaty sweet. Tons of cherry. Body feels a bit thinner, but also less boozy. Flavour is more sweet, some light acidity, less pits. While both are delicious, I think I prefer the base, it has a slight bitterness that counters the chocolaty Kirsch sweetness more.
15/1/22: Dark purplish red. Great smell of sweet cherries, almost candied, some alcohol. Soft body, with a slight warming down the throat. Taste is sweet, with buckets of cherries. Fairly on the sweet side, but in a fruity way. Some pits. Delicious, as usual.

Keg at BD Castlegate. It pours darkest purple almost black... opaque. The aroma is intense juicy, tangy, honeyed berries, massive cherry action, raspberry, Bakewell tart, straight up jam, vanilla, blackberry pie, jam rolly polly, tangy citrus, like almost, strawberry syrup and candy. The taste is tart, tangy, juicy, straight up jam, so damn jammy, honeyed berries, massive cherry, bakewell tart, more jam, vanilla, fruit cordial, blackcurrant, some dryness, mild acidity, juice, so smooth and tangy, lip smacking. Fulsome body and hint of carbonation. Immensely fruity. Delicious.

Bottle. Pours deep purple red. Cherry, tart cherry, funky sour cherry, blackberry, blackcurrant, sweet sour cherry juice, intense floral honey, rich port like red fruit grape notes, tobacco, slight earthiness, sweet syrupy finish. Oily body. Outstanding.

Yesterday! Delicious cherry character. Cleaner with less almond and cinnamon character than the statement but I didn’t do them side-by-side so I'm probably off. Lovely honey presence despite the tons of fruit. Also made for a wicked cherry Old Fashioned.

Bottle pour at Schramm's, pours a deep dark mahogany. Aroma reveals decadent dark cherry, gentle pith, and treacly honey. Flavour is decadent as hell, with intensely rich and sweet cherries, treacle, and honey. Beautiful fruit expression. Decadent and rich. Lovely.
