0.5 l bottle from 'Craftbeershop.com', best before October 2024. Clear, very dark ruby with a medium large, frothy, almost stable, off-white head. Sweetish-malty, slightly fruity aroma of molasses, raisins, prunes and light caramel. Quite sweet, malty, moderately bitter, gently fruity and minimally vinous taste of molasses, raisins, prunes and hints of caramel, followed by a short, moderately bitter finish. Medium to full body, smooth and slightly effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Good Doppelbock, very much on the fruity side, exactly how I like it.

Bottle from Appellation Wines. Appearance - deep amber to brown and fairly clear. Beige head. Nose - toffee and bread. Taste - chewy toffee, dried orange, some honeycomb. Palate - medium bodied, sweet and chewy middle. Roasty finish. Overall - the taste was much more interesting than the nose suggested it might be.
