There are over 3,000 breweries in America today, and IPA is the number one craft beer style. Now we love our IPAs, but it’s downright comical the sheer volume of IPAs out there. There are White IPAs, Black IPAs, Brett IPAs, Oaked IPAs, blah blah blah, English IPAs, west coast IPAs, New England IPAs, blah blah blah, mango-jalapeno IPAs blah blah blah! At the 21A we take our beer very seriously but we don’t take ourselves too seriously. We just want to have fun making great beers, and Blah Blah Blah IPA sure seemed like a good way to do it.

Deep, super crisp clear copper and pure orange coloured body with a thick, rich tan head, about 5 centimetres tall that fades quite quickly. Aroma of very dense malt, alcohol, pine, resin, flowers and citrus with a ton of alpha acids and bitterness noticeable. Medium-bodied; Strong, super rich earthiness and grain from the malts with a big chewy texture and some pungent astringent and grassy notes that hit hard, but some apricot and citrus fruits generate a little bit of sweetness to balance out the pungent malts and hop bitterness. Aftertaste shows the super resinous profile of pine, pineapple, honey and rich malts, all with a lot of earth, toffee and grainy malt notes. Overall, a nice and strong Imperial IPA with a good and complex hop bitterness and quality with a lot of sweetness on the edges, primarily from resin, but some fruits are around as well. I sampled this twelve ounce can purchased from the Department of Beer and Wine in Alexandria, Virginia on 12-June-2020 for US$2,51 sampled at my house here in Washington on 16-July-2020.

Can, TWSP. Hazy golden with a giant off-white head. Jesus, the ones I saved for last all smell the same. Stale hops, resin, pine, light citrus. Flavor is resin, citrus peel... that's it. Have I grown tired of the old-school IPAs?

Pours hazy amber with a thick white head. Aroma of malt along with slight fruit notes. Taste is heavily hopped but not resinous, a great mix of hard hops while avoiding the resin trap. Palate is malty and has a slight fruit tone on the nose. Great DIPA.

Can: Hazy, orange-yellow with a tall, light beige head. Orange-pulp, grapefruit, evergreen aroma. Taste is soft, sweet, orange malt, peels and sweet/spicy pine. Solidly bitter hops on the back end. Very good.

Beaverfest. Keg. Light haze on this gold beer, small cream colour head. Smooth palate, semi dry, decent fine carbonation. Smooth malts, a little soft and creamy sweet. Good piney hop kickoff. Pithy orange and orange peel. Little tropical fruits. Light semi dry finish. Bitter citrc peel linger. Nice enough.

12oz can. Very interesting ingredient list. Soapy, foamy, off-white head. Sorta unfiltered orange-copper body. A lot of malt depth, a pretty solid amount of hop depth too. Definitely a little maltier and full of depth than most IPAs. Sort of out of IPA territory as far as malts..sort of American Strong Ale, though it does have a respectable hop balance. OK.

Aromas are mainly resinous hops with some biscuit malt and a bit of caramel. Flavors are like nose Bittersweet upfront with a long bitter finish. Good body and carbonation.

Keg at Beaverex '18, day one, 07/09/18. Lightly hazed golden orange with a decent off white cap. Nose is bitter orange, straw, grass, lemon drizzle, melon. Taste is old skool leaning, caramel, orange pith, melon, grapefruit, grassy, toasted grains. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close spiked with juicy hop bitterness. Ok clean drinking DIPA if a touch basic.
