2nd beer on my Flight at the Pizza Port, Ocean Beach brewpub; lunchtime 17th Jan 2018. I chose all four beers because they had brewed them on the premises (plenty more apart from my four to choose from). Liked this brown coloured beer, off-white crown on top. Malts just about rule the nose and taste, a toasted maltiness really with just enough hop content to have a semi-bitter feel to the brew. A good attempt at an English beer.

Draft at Pita Kabob in Visalia (W Akers). Rich malt aroma. Chestnut brown with white head that lingers as a collar of minuscule bubbles. Taste is caramel with a backing of chocolate. There is a moderate amount of burnt aspects in the second half of the flavor - an odd malt as it is more than just roast - perhaps something off if kettle caramelization was used? Finishes quickly and a light mouthfeel.

Keg at CBC Clerkenwell, London during the Pizza Port tap takeover. Pours clear, dark brown with a fine, tan cream head. Toasted brown bread aroma with light cocoa, burnt leaves, earth and hints of roasty coffee. Light to medium sweet flavor with moderate coffee character, burnt toasty bread, more leaves, mild earthy bitterness. Light to medium bodied with average carbonation. Light burnt toast and earth to finish, some moderate toasty sugars, faint cocoa. Very drinkable beer.
