At the 2017 Beer Geek Madness in Wrocław, Poland, Deer Bear won best beer. One of the things they got winning was to come and brew a collaboration beer with us here at Dugges. This is that beer. Trophy!
Late 2016 we got an e-mail asking if we wanted to be a part of the Beer Geek Madness festival in Wrocław, Poland. Naturally, we said yes. Late March we flew down, landed in Swedish mid July weather and got to experience one of the wildest beer fests ever. Imagine having a brainstorming meeting about what you wanted to do while arranging a beer festival, then doing everything you come up with. That’s what it was like. And, in the midst of it all there was a peoples choice competition for best beer by a Polish (exhibiting) brewery. Deer Bear won with a spiced Gose, and the price? Well, to brew with us. We took the spices and added them to a stout instead. Big!

Bottled (from Systembolaget Skellefteå). Pitch black colour, mediumsized beigeish brown head. Aroma is plum, spices, some ripe fruits and a wee bit of alcohol. Flavour is plum, alcohol, some spices, mild toffee and some sweet malts to it. Nicely balanced.

(Bottle) Black colour with brief, foamy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of espresso, tobacco, prunes, raisins, black bread, roasted hazelnuts, cinnamon and a touch of smoke. Malty, roasted, spicy taste with prunes, raisins, spices (cinnamon, nutmeg), coffee, tobacco, cacao, roasted nuts, liquorice, plum brandy, a touch of smoke and a mild roasty bitterness in the finish. Full body, thick and oily mouthfeel. Sweet. On the sweet and cloying side, but rich and tasty. Quite nice.

Jeżdżę na wszystkie edycję BGM i tak się zastanawiam czy ja już nie piłem tego piwa. Bardzo ciekawe i złożone, wszystkie dodatki wyczuwalne w nienachalny sposób, suszona śliwka , imbir, gałka muszkatołowa, cynamon, dobra podstawka i w miarę neutralna beczka wnosząca głównie waniliny. Dodam że piwo pite miesiąc przed końcem terminu więc alkohol się ułożył, dodatki trochę siadły i lekko się utleniło w pozytywny sposób, choć pod koniec jak się dobrze ogrzało trochę sosem sojowym daje.

W aromacie czekolada, kawa, przyprawy, wanilia, kokos, karmel, śliwka. Bardzo przyjemny i zachęcający. W smaku słodko. Czekolada, kawa, mnóstwo przypraw, wanilia, migdały, śliwka. Pikantne. Wysokie ciało, niskie wysycenie. Bardzo dobre piwo, nie piłem świeżego ale czas go nie popsuł.

Bottle 33 cl. Pours an opaque black with a small, beige head. Nose really is plummy, or perhaps more like plum brandy. Rich, sweet, a little to the flat side, sweet roast, jammy, plummy, dark dried fruits, oxidized. Appears old, but probably isn't. Has a British feel to it that I really like. 210120

Flaska från SB. Kolsvartklaffig vätska med lågt skum. Söt och rejält kryddig doft. Muskot, ingefära och kanel tar ordentligt med plats. Lätt rökigt, mörka plommon, ganska träigt och torrt men kroppen är rejäl och det finns sötma som balanserar. Sammantaget mer udda än gott men funkar ok iaf.
