Queen of Tart Prickly Pear Sour was made using more than 250 lbs. of the prickly pear cactus fruit, and is described as “rosy red, tart but not lip-puckeringly sour, and very fruity.”
5 cents from every can of Queen of Tart will be donated to the Osoyoos Desert Centre, an organization dedicated to the “conservation and restoration of one of Canada’s most rare, fragile and endangered ecosystems. This semi-arid, antelope-brush ecosystem, located in the South Okanagan, is home to one of the highest concentrations of rare and at-risk species in Canada.”

Hazy pinkish colour, lovely pricky pear. Medium head. Nice fresh and bright prickly pear aroma. The base has a deep lactic note, and a big prickly pear fruitiness. The base beer isn’t great but the cactus fruit is.

Nice ruby copper body and some okay foam. Smells of a bit of okay prickly pear, some soft citrus. Taste is soft prickly pear, some sour fruit. Ends a little thin and lacking carbonation. Okay flavour, clean, but could use some more oomph.
