Bottle (at Brewdog Brussels). Pours black with beige head. The head stays. Aroma is roast, chocolate, coffee, licorice. Flavor is sweet and bitter, roast, coffee, malt, licorice. Finish has slight booze kick. Overall: great.

Zwart bier met mooie bruine schuimkraag die lang blijft staan. Helaas is de smaak is te veel door een brand of rooksmaak beïnvloed waardoor de overige smaak nuances niet meer goed naar voren komen. Verder iets van druiven en anijs.

28/04/2018 – 10cl glass shared with an international ratebeer crew @ZBF2018 Black, small tanned head. Nose is dark malts, some coffee, some chocolate. Taste is creamy, some roast, some nuts, chocolate, bit liquor. Very nice but no clear maple.

F: thin, tan, not long lasting. C: dark, opaque. A: nice chocolate, roasted tones, cocoa, bit coffee. T: dark malts, chocolate, bit herbal, coffee, dry on the palate, very good balanced, enjoyed, full body, medium carbonation, sample draft shared with Germany and BE RB crew @ ZBF 2018.

Bottle bought at Zythos 2018, shared with Anke at the hostel. Pours cloudy black with a lasting, foamy, beige head; little lacing. Strong aroma of milk chocolate, cream liqueur, coffee with milk, oats, hazelnut paste, whisky or bourbon, brown bread, some beef. It tastes light to medium creamy & chocolatey sweet, a tad nutty, and light roasted bitter. Bit hoppy & peppery in the finish, even toasty, balancing the lingering cream & chocolate; a good dash of warming liqueur alcohol. Full body, creamy texture, soft carbonation. A dessert in itself, complex and very tasty, almost hard to finish even when shared. Good job!
