When we first opened Canteen in 2017, we celebrated the opening with a one-off batch of Lucky Jack Mango which sold out almost instantly. Now that the worldwide mango-craze is in full swing, we decided to relaunch the original Norwegian mango beer. Fruity, tropical and refreshing, Lucky Jack Mango is the perfect beer for the summer holidays.

33cl can from Abeervinum, Rimini, Italy. Pours bright orange gold, transparent, with fine white foam. Aroma is intensely hoppy and tropical, yeasty too. Body and carbonation are average. Taste is medium bitter. Final is fairly dry.

Can. More or less clear in the glass, golden in color, topped by a finger-thick, dense, white head. The aroma has lots of mango, with some notes of generic tropical fruit and grass. It's medium to fullbodied, semi-dry and softly carbonated, with a decent bitterness. Mango, orange notes, some grapefruit and a touch of pale malts. Long finish with mango dominating. Nice, but too one-dimensional. 210918

330ml can bought at Gulating Ølutsalg in Bodø. Near-clear golden body, remaining, low, white head, rings of lace down the glass. Moderate mango nose, citric hints. Prominent mango up front to the flavour character, joined by pale malts, and moments of orange. Hints of citric bitterness to the ending. Soft carbonated. Fair enough. (Bodø Panorama 16.08.2021).

6-3-5-2-10 Can, three weeks after canning. Pours clear dark yellow, with a big creamy head. Aroma is citrusy hops with sweet fruity notes of ripe mangoes, musty fruit pits and apples. Light to medium body, with average carbonation. Flavour is hoppy notes of pine, marmelade and artificial mango and stone fruit notes. Just another one of those mango concoctions. Really not all that refreshing, with a feel of unnatural fruits and artificial sweeteners. A huge step down for the Lucky Jack brand.

330 ml can, supplied by my son from Lervig Canteen. ABV is 4.7%. Clear golden colour, moderate white head. Aroma of mango and fruity / citrussy hops. Mango essence in the flavour, tastes a bit artificial. Also notes of grapefruity and piney hops. I prefer the ordinary Lucky Jack.
