Bella Blonde follows a recipe I first formulated as a homebrew with the objective of creating a thirst-quenching summer beer that still retained character and didn’t surrender to the banal.
It’s a straightforward beer with German malts and hops and a top fermenting yeast with high attenuation.
Under a compact and persistent head there’s a delicate aroma of honey and orange peel that combines with a hint of wine. It’s easy on the palate and has a veil of creaminess that makes it readily drinkable despite the relatively high alcohol level. It ends with only a slight bitterness.

33cl bottle from AbeerVinum, expired just days ago. Pours orange gold with limited white foam, very fine. Aroma is tart and suggesting sourness. Body is fairly dense with moderate carbonation. Taste is moderately bitter and sour to some point. Finish is slightly long and sour.

On tap at Bir&Fud, Rome-Italy. Cloudy gold pour, vivid. Tick and persistent off-white head. Nose: melon, peach, Yasmine all the way. Mouth: tea like feel, orangey background, clean and tasty. Easy too. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap @Bir&Fud (Rome). Pours pale golden with a little persistent head. Aroma is malty, yeasts, light hops presence, fruity, a little metallic note that rapidly disappears. Flavour is medium sweet with a nice bitter end, round and crisp, nice! Medium to light body, medium carbonation. Nice beer, could be refined...

They are still dialing in this recipe but the version I tried was a pale light gold with a nose of crackery malts & lightly fruity. A blend of Helles and a Blond Ale. The taste was crisp wheat crackers & a touch of fruits. You don’t notice the 6.2% at all apparently his efficiency was more than expected making this a dangerously light easy drinking 6.2%!
