Bottle lovingly saved by the brewer for me to drink as my 1000th beer rating. I've only rated for a couple of years, but have been drinking craft beer (back when it was mostly called import beer) since the mid 90s. I thought about which of those beers from my youth I could find *in Germany* as the 1000th, but Brexit trashed my plans - I couldn't get my target beer of Murphy's Draught, or pretty much anything else from back then. Fortunately my friends at Higgins Ale Works hooked me up with a tasty, smooth stout as an in-style replacement from a LOCL BREWR. Very dark brown with a moderate fine-bubbled head. Roasty coffee-like notes with a heavy cocoa aroma, very nice nose. Body is nicely matched to the mid-power flavor. Smooth chocolate, not overpowering with the roasted malts, the hop bitterness & complexity are pretty moderate as well to allow the cacao to come to the fore. Reminds me a bit of a Milk Stout like Mackeson's, of which I drank a lot back in the day. An excellent beer!

Bottle. Clear brown color with soapy beige head. Aroma is cocoa, not much else. Taste is cocoa indeed, fresh, a bit earthy, quite light. Easy drinking, not bad.

Bottle. Darkest brown, low offwhite tan. Dry chocolate and dark roast. Medium mellow, light creamy, whisked caramel, cinnamon, dry apple, pleasant.
