Tap at Beergeek Bar. Pitch black body, off-white head. Oily aroma, chocolate, light alcohol, almond, cookies, nah, scratch that light from alcohol. Chocolate, almond, weird marzipan-like notes in the lean, dry, bitter taste. Not too happy with it.

Review based on the BJCP2021 guidelines (style 20C). Bottle 33 cl - Batch: 868/869 (BB 12/2025). AROMA: medium-high roasted aroma with notes of chocolate, dark fruits, nutty and a slight vinous alcohol. APPEARANCE: very dark brown color and opaque um ruby highlights. medium-low light brown head with average retention. TASTE: initial medium-high roasted malt flavor with slight notes of chocolate and nuts, followed by an excessive burnt character that masks these initial notes. medium-high bitterness with a dry and charcoal-burnt finish that persists. MOUTHFEEL: velvety medium-high body with medium carbonation. slight astringency. smooth alcohol warmth. OVERALL: an imperial stout with a very good aroma but with excessive burnt character in the flavor, possibly due to formulation issues.

Draught, half pint. @Caminha Artbeerfest 2021, Caminha (Portugal). 15/08/2021 [#4.174 Global - #237 Portugal - #11 Barona Brewing Company] Pours black with a beige head. Aroma: espresso coffee, roasted malts and liquor. Taste: strong coffee, roasted malts. Creamy mouthfeel. Dry long finish. Next one please!
