According to Lauren, the imaginator of this pucker-pleasing ale, Lychee fruit is so insanely sweet and flavorful you almost can’t stand it alone. Sour to the rescue! Tart Lychee is brewed with exotic lychee fruit and cinnamon, and then blended with sour Felix from our wood cellar for a citrusy, tropical sip that attacks with an invigorating tart bite. Explore the tropics, but brace for the wild.

Bottled. A hazy golden beer with a thin white head. The aroma has notes of fruits, dusty hops, and malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of brettanomyces, raspberries, lychee, wood, and spices, leading to a tart and dry finish.

Bottle 65 cl. Courtesy of Doodler. Pours a hazy yellow with a white head. Tart, funky, fruity aroma. Medium body, a sweet underlying berry-like fruitiness with quite some funk and lactic acids. 221112

Bottle at Dallas’ place. Pours a cloudy amber color. A big nose of rotting sweet fruit. The flavor is interesting; light spices, tropical notes, funky unusual mix, sweet oak and lychee. This could pair well with so many things. Unique.

Sample at GABF 10/11/2012, thanks to Bluemeow76 for assistance with note-taking. Hazy tangerine color with a medium white head and small patches of lace. The aroma consists of sour apples and malt. Medium body with flavors of citrus, bready malt and sweet spices. The finish is fruity with a lingering tart aftertaste. Above average overall.

Hazy golden with a thin white head. Aroma is fruity, sweet, tart, light funky barnyard. Medium bodied. Flavor is a bit more muted than I was hoping from the aroma. But, all the same characteristics are there. Tart fruit, sweet, and a bit of sour funk. Pretty tasty brew.
