Imperial Pastry Stout. Inspired by our mutual love of rum cocktails, this stout is infused with tons of coconut along with our own take on Orgeat syrup, a classic cocktail ingredient composed of almonds and citrus. A subtle tropical twist for a gigantic winter stout. Collaboration with Pulpit Rock (IA).

Can from Drankenhandel Leiden. Almond and coconut upfront with sweet dark malt, chocolate, vanilla, some roast and molasses. Flavour is rather sweet and candied with a mild bitterness. Body is full, not too much booze. Slow sippin' time, wouldn't have minded sharing this beast.

deep dark brown colour, moderate sized creamy brown head; aroma of hot chocolate, some vanilla, coconut, slight anise and licorice; taste of dark chocolate, cocoa, syrupy sweetness, coconut, vanilla, rhum and some spiciness in the aftertaste; I like it very much https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8qAI0rsgJ6E

Can (2/1/21) pour from trade with AirForceHops--thanks, Chris! It's an opaque black with a lot of large white floaties, light sparkle at the edges of the glass, finger-width light brown head with poor retention and no lacing. Aroma is strong earthy and sweet malt, molasses, milder late coconut--better as it warms. Taste is initial burst of alcohol then super sugary sweet malts, coconut--mellows a bit as it sits/warms. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with sticky, syrupy texture, soft carbonation, huge alcohol warmth in the esophagus and stomach and finish as taste. Overall, I know rum cocktails are supposed to be sweet but usually have some discernible flavors. This is mostly sweet for sweet's sake without a ton of flavor so is a little to the cloying side. Best to be split a number of ways and let it breathe. Didn't love it but appear to be a lone dissenter in the group.

Can from Tavour. Pours very dark brown with a small creamy tan head. Aroma of toasted coconut and heat. Full bodied. Flavor is toasted coconut, toasted malt, citrus and almonds. Far from dry. Hints of cyanide? Lots of almond. Not bitter, but there's something holding down the malt. Intriguing. Different. Tasty.

16 oz. can. Date: 1 Feb 21. Aroma is mild molasses and soft almond. Perhaps citrus. Well, the brewer pulls off the rum inspired drink they were after. To me it tastes like a Rum Almond Cake or a boozy coffee cake. It is rich and decadent with a nice full body. It gets to be a bit much to drink a entire can solo. This needs to be split.

16 oz can my daughter got me from Tavour. Nose is coconut, molasses, cocoa, vanilla, and a hint of roast. Black with a medium, lightly lacing, tan head. Flavor is like a sweet Mounds candy bar.

16oz can from Tavour. Black oil slick of a pour, a few bubbles, then still. Rum, coconut, chocolate make up the aroma. Taste is chocolate and sweet, coconut, rum notes. Slick and creamy. And the burn, yea, you can't forget that. While the aroma can seem harsh, the taste is much smoother.
