This 12 oz bottle of XXIV has been in inventory for most of two years. We have a great fall day going so I’m sampling the brew this early evening. Prior FW Anniversary beers have been well received by me so I’ve been looking forward to this. My Chimay glass will receive the pour. The view is a dark brown with a bit of tan highlights and the head quickly settles to a small circle of tan foam. I lift the glass for a smell. Chocolate, ripe berries, grain and some alcohol effect. And now the payoff, well, the taste is good, really good. Quadrupel and imperial stout influences, of course, with dark plums, figs, dark chocolate, vanilla, some strawberries, hay, wheat bread, caramel, oak and whiskey. A lot to be delivered in one beer. A superior strong ale.
