12 oz. bottle, pours jet black with a small tan head. Aroma is wonderfully rich and complex, with lots of roasted malt, chocolate fudge, and a touch of red wine barrels. Flavour is incredibly decadent, with intense roasted malt, chocolate fudge, gentle red wine barrels, molasses, and vanilla. Rich, thick, oily palate, with a sort of treacly, chocolatey finish. The red wine isn't overly prominent, at least compared the intensity of the bourbon barrels in the regular Parabola. Exceptional.

Bottle from Bine & Vine in San Diego, CA. Pours dark brown/black with a creamy tan head. Aroma of chocolate and smooth toasty malt with hints of berry and wood. Full bodied. Not dry. Creamy. Heat is perceptible. Flavor is sort of chocolate/berry or vice versa; smooth, creamy toasty malt; wood that's not musty (so not all that prominent). It's quite delicious.

On tap at The Taphouse in Boise. Pours black with a small tan head, good lacing. Barrel, dark malts, chocolate cake, vanilla, coffee. Wow, the red wine cuts the sweetness.

Snifter at Taphouse. Black with silky beige head. Lots of chocolate. Smooth, velvety. Red wine afds some sweetness, but balances everything. Even better than the real thing.

On tap in Boise. Pours a pitch black color with a small brown head. A huge sweet chocolate dessert nose. Sweet, hot, dark chocolate, cut by a sharp woody wine. Very nice. Huge.

Draught at the brewery, Smallish head, very dark brown color, aroma of molasses, plums, dried figs and dates, dark honey, fudge and a vinous hint, flavor of caramel, dates, molasses, light woodiness creeping in and a hint of burned sugar fudge and dark bread, quite dry with just a touch of sweetness. Very good and quite complex.

Bottle from a lazy dog. Dark inky black in color with a small tan head with moderate retention. Rich roast and licorice with bits of sweet brown sugary maltiness and light jam like grape from the wine barrel. Not much in the way of oak or woody notes. Nice sipper, but I noted again how I have enjoyed the base beer much more on tap than in a bottle.

Draft. A- Red currants, dark fruits, vinous, chocolate. A- Black color, black liquid, brown head. T- Chocolate, dark fruits, red wine, mild booze. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, complex finish. O- Glad I got a taster of this so I can lay my bottle down to age some. The red wine adds a very nice touch to this beer.
