During the late 1700s, when trade relations between India and England was established need for a beer that could stay fresh during the long journey. Therefore brygdes hard humlat beer with higher alcohol content that went under the India Pale Ale. Our IPA contains only aromatic hops from the United States, and is therefore under the name Sitting Bulldog.

Fra flaske (bb. 010414) på Cardinaltreff april-14: gylden med flott skum. God aroma og smak av amerikanske humler, men de forsvinner påfallende fort. Tydelig at denne har passert middagshøyden. Må prøves i ferskere utgave.

Tap at Olstugan, Andra Lang. Poured a crystal clear medium amber with a thin white head. The aroma is fruity hop. The flavour is medium bitter with a metallic hop bitter light malt palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

330 ml bottle, as Gotlands Sitting Bulldog IPA. Wisby is not mentioned on the label. ABV is 6.4%. New at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Amber to copper colour, moderate white head. Decent aroma of jam / marmalade and fruity hops, hints of spruce. Medium sweet flavour, with distinct fruity and piney American hops throughout, and a solid bitterness in the finish. Not bad at all from Gotlands Bryggeri.

Draught @ Pelikan. Amber maltiness, a surupy sweetness and a fruity (orange) hoppiness. The acetyl notes destroys a otherwise quite good IPA.

Aroma: strong aromas of fruits, hops and caramel. Appearance is copper with nice head, it stays fo some time, but not for too long. Taste is bitter and fruity, nice bitter aftertaste, caramel is very dominant in aftertaste. Medium carbonation. Overall: good beer, but more caramel and maybe different choice of hops than typical for IPA.
