This hop harvest, the seasoned big-city brewers from Seattle’s Cloudburst Brewing made the trek over the Cascades to team up with the farm kids from Bale Breaker to brew Citra Slicker Wet Hop IPA, a fresh hop beer that was first brewed two harvests ago. While it took the Cloudburst team over two hours to get to Bale Breaker, the hundreds of pounds of wet Citra and Loral hops picked fresh from the fields that morning traveled just four minutes from farm to kettle. Heavily dry-hopped, while light in color and body, this beer is all about these fresh, farm-grown hops!

Malt: 2-Row, Munich, C-10, White Wheat
Hops: Mosaic®, Citra®, Loral™, Citra® wet hops
Yeast: BBBC House Strain

On tap at Bale Breaker / Yonder Cider Ballard, pours a clear pale golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out intense dank hops, some allium, and pot. Flavour is dank, piney and dry, with a real nice hop expression and just enough malt to balance. Bold and dank, with a dry finish. Excellent.

Light orange body with white head. Hoppy citrusy aroma. Taste is as hoppy as a bunny. Fruit finish.

Can. Pours a clear (!) orange hue with a large white head. A light citrus nose. Toast, medium citrus, low bitterness, mild resin. Quite smooth. A bit of herbal notes.

Amber, slight haze. Thin head. Lots of malt, but a ton of hops, too. That sweetness is on the edge, but carries the big hop bitterness well. And with how oniony citra has been lately, to not have that here is impressive.

16 oz can from Tavour, 10/31/19. Fairly clear golden-orange color, thin off-white head, some mild, streaky lacework. Bright pine, citrus zest and herbal hops. Some spice. Resiny, grass. Tingly, clean feel. 7/4/8/4/15

Growler thanks to Steve pours out a crisp clear gold topped with a white head. Nose is nice crisp tropical notes and some sweetness. Taste is more of the nice sweet tropical fruit hops and a well balanced end.

Draft pour pint at Cloudburst. Try 2.0 of this beer. Had at Toronado a little while back and something seemed weird. Every beer deserves at least a second chance. Seems like Bale Breaker feels the same way. Besides, it’s a perfect day out for a beer like this. Fresh, grassy hop aroma. Creamy body, hop bitter covered by a unique sweetness. Not quite a fruit sweetness. Something I don’t even know about! Refreshing as an overall. Creamy, and exploding with hops. Two hop masters teaming up. This ultimately lead to my expectations being very high. Maybe too high. Overall, still a crusher the second time through.
