The Jagged Shard Imperial Red Ale clocks in at 8.4% ABV and 80 IBU's. This brew pours a dark red copper color and offers a pleasant citrus fruit aroma. Very balanced flavor profile between the strong melanoiden rich malt backbone and the complimentary but assertive hop character. Very smooth and deceiving for a high gravity brew until you feel the unmistakable alcohol warmth in your cheeks after a few sips. Enjoy this one responsibly, but enjoy it you will.

Draft at Boise Brewing. Small bit lively crowd. Amber pour and frothy head. Nose is caramel, tea, berry. Tastes mush the same. Flavor lingers.

On tap at the taphouse pub boise. pours out a crisp amber copper topped with a sand head l. Nose is very nice big hops rich caramel malts. Taste is more of the rich caramel malt sweetness and a nice crisp hop kick. This one is quite nice.

Growler fill from the brewery. Clear, dark amber body with small tight beige head. Caramelly malts are first aroma, and it follows through to taste, velvety body makes for a nice chewy brew. This ones all about the malts, with a hint of some hoppiness at the very back of the palate.

On Tap at the Boise Brewery, Hazy redish orange with a thin but persistent light tan head and thin even coats of lacing. The malty and hop aroma signaled to me that this is a big IPA. After a few sips the smooth maltiness brought me back to "Imperial Red Ale" Whatever that is. Robust and smooth hop flavors and well balanced. This is a good beer. Big, bold and smooth
