So just who is Ingrid? Perhaps she’s a reference to the Swedish silver screen icon or maybe it’s the line seemingly spoken by every other Swedish actress in films from the 60s and 70s (we know you know the ones we’re talking about).

One thing is certain – this Swedish inspired Double IPA is not as innocent as she at first appears. A seductive body of rich malts and a buxom amount of Citra, Nelson Sauvin and Bramling Cross hops have been added to fresh Scandinavian cloudberries to deliver this beer’s raunchy tart finish.

Designed by the readers of Swedish beer blog BeerSweden, ‘Hello, My Name is Ingrid’ is a celebration of all that is great about Sweden. It does not, however, contain any pickled herrings. Or meatballs.

Malts: Cara and Extra Pale
Hops: Bramling Cross, Centennial, Citra, Columbus and Enigma.

330mL bottle, bonused generously to me by siranselm (thanks a lot, Marcus), pours a clear golden copper with a large foamy white head. Aroma brings out the cloudberries upfront, along with fruity resinous hops, some faint tropical fruits, and biscuity malts. Flavour brings out a very similar profile, with an extremely fruity and juicy hoppy dominating set of notes, including the cloudberries, resinous hops, maybe a bit of mangos and pineapple, a little grapefruit, and just enough biscuity malts to hold it all together. Wonderful depth and balance to this, with very little astringency, though lots of hoppy goodness. The cloudberries seem to accentuate the hops brilliantly, creating a deep complexity. Wonderful IIPA.

Best. Brewdog. Beer. Ever. At least, in terms of something you’d go back and drink again, and again. Pours a lovely golden yellow, with frothy, lasting white head. Aroma is all melon and psychedelia. Taste is pure fruit goodness, with hops a strong second. Any malty backbone to the beer is kinda lost, but I rate Schneiderwiesse’s Hopfenweisse very highly, and this beer is similar. Full mouthfeel, long bitter finish. Good work.

Draft at Brewdog, Birmingham. Poured a clear amber colour with a thin white frothy head. The aroma is rich and malty, The flavour is hugely hoppy and malty but quite rounded and smooth. There are also some grassy notes on the palate. It’s over 8% but the alcohol doesn’t dominate the beer.

Keg at Brew Dog Shoreditch, 25/02/13. Very lightly hazed golden with a big forthy off white head that retains well - looks the bollocks! Nose is pine, hops, citrus, orange, apricot jam, grapefruit. Taste comprises orange pith, bitter grpaefruit, sugars, light caramel, hops, grass, pine. Medium bodied with bite, carbonation is a little too prickly, bitter finish. A decent enough DIPA but not top class.

On tap at Brewdog camden. Wanted to try this for ages. Piny fruity aroma. Touch of sandlewood. Palete is slightly chewy and very smooth. Strange flavour. Hard to put your finger on.

On tap at BrewDog Camden been waiting for this for ages. Beautiful peachy aroma. I guess thats the cloud berries. Wow just so smooth and fruity. Yes a warm kick in the end but not harsh. Yep lovely. Just a little bit of american style caramel malt in it. Decent as hell.
