0.33l bottle. This is a light cloudy deep dark and warm ruby brown looking one with a small to medium sized beige soft lacing top. A bit anonymous on the nose. I get tones of something really herbal, almost medicinal like with cough syrup, waxy honey and dried hedge. Light licorice infused, pepper and nutmeg. There is even a little hint of vanilla all the way in the back. A good amount of flavor. Concentrated Coca Cola, more medicinal herbal nuances. It feels oily in the mouth and the carbonation level is about average and small-bubbled. Yeasty bitterness with chocolate wrapper and soft ginger bread. A bit out on the sweeter side of the scale, undoubtedly. A good malty sweetness all the way and it's leaving a Spicy tail. Not bad at all. 20.11.2013

On tap @ Kick mat & Malt. Unclear, dark brown, close to black body with a nice, moderate sized beige head. Aroma is dominated by Christmas spices, some caramel, dry fruit and milk chocolate. Flavor has sweet malt, chocolate, spices, dry fruit and yeast. Interesting, but not necessary in a balance. Quite strong body and heavy in aftertaste. Promising but unfortunately out of balance.

33cl bottle (as "Svaneke Christmas Ale") from Vinmonopolet Storo. Pours dark brown with a reddish hue and a beige head. Malty and caramelly aroma with moderate spicy notes, dark dried fruits and hints of toast and Belgian yeast. Fairly sweet and flavourful with a light bitterness in the finish. Pleasant Christmas beer.

50cl bottle thanks to Nikolai. Pours a chestnut brown colour with a slight red hue and a thin crema head. The nose has quite a dominant green hop note, possibly herbs or grassiness, then some baked apple and cinnamon. The taste has more of the baked fruit, some chocolate and spice. The palate is medium to full bodied, with a tangy texture and a fairly elegant finish.

Fra flaske på Cardinals juleøltreff nov-12: det var nok urettferdig at jeg prøvde denne etter Gouden Carolus Christmas. Må prøve den på nytt, da inntrykket var "ikke god".

On tap at Ølfestival 2011. It pours a clear, copper colored body under a dense, beige head. Dried fruits, prunes mostly, and caramel notes in the aroma. The flavor is sweet, yet it feels quite dry on the palate, medium bodied and pleasantly carbonated. Caramel and fruityness, as well as a little bitterness towards the end. Some raisins too in the end. Well, it certainly drinks easily and it’s far from bad tasting, but it’s just one in the crowd. 110528

500ml bottle provided by Finn, thanks. Bubbly, beige patches at the surface of a deep, dark-brown red-tinged body. Dark malts, dark fruits and liquorice in a rather mild aroma. Dark malts, dried fruits, ash, and a tad of yeasty fruitiness in flavour, all of it added by a spicy touch. Bitter support towards the ending. Likable and good drinking on a dark Christmas eve (Tromsø, 24.12.2011).
