Description: Brooklyn Intensified Coffee Porter starts as a big, chocolatey ale, ready to take on super powers. The first power is gained from months of aging in Kentucky bourbon barrels. The second arises from delectable beans harvested by our pals at Finca El Manzano Single Origin Coffee in El Salvador. The final power comes from Blue Bottle Coffee, who roast the coffee to perfection. Brace yourself for complex notes of dark chocolate, vanilla, oak, berries, and dried fruit, coming to intensify you.

From a 22 oz bottle at the WWWW RB tasting it is a dark amber color with a slight ecru head. The aroma is coffee and the taste is boozy with a strong cappuccino finish

On draft some time ago (date not mentioned) at Rustico in Alexandria VA. Pitch black color with a small wispy dark tan head (though it may have been sitting around for a few minutes before it got to me - didn’t see the actual pour). Aroma is strong coffee, with notes of toffee, chocolates. Flavor is roasted coffee, chocolate. Smooth and creamy, the beer finishes quite nicely.

A deep dark stout with a thin moka head. A very sweetish and oily chocolate aroma, coffee grinds, nice and pleasant moka fudge. In mouth, a bit of light mokacinno coffee, powdery, with light warming alcohol. In mouth, this is a bit of a let down compared to the aroma. On tap at Blue Tusk, July 31 2009.

Location: On tap at the Brewery, 7/18/09
Aroma: Coffee (Shocking, right?), roasted, malty
Appearance: Dark color, creamy brown head
Flavor: Strong coffee flavor to this one (I know, again, shocking!), not a lot of really heavy flavors here, sweet coffee, roasted start, and a light hop finish
Palate: Medium body, not a particularly heavy stout, but not thin either
Overall Impression: It's a beer that will wake you up for sure, enjoyed drinking this one at the Brewery after our "tour."

Draft @ Vine & Barley. Pours black with brown head. Big coffee aroma with hints of chocolate and vanilla. Fresh brewed coffee and cream flavor with bittersweet chocolate. I’m getting a similar aftertaste I get from drinking real coffee. Full body with moderate carbonation.

On tap at Copenhagen Beerfestival. Served by the brewmaster. A dense, tan head forms a diminishing lid over an almost black body. Coffee-grit, some burnt notes, black coffee and hints of vanilla, sweetness and butterscotch in the aroma. It’s full-bodied and nicely carbonated, with flavors of cold dark coffee, sweetness, dark chocolate, mocha and some roasted bitterness. Not much hops to detect, and the bitterness in the finish is of the coffee-like kind. A really lovely coffee beer. (090515)
