Perhaps you’ve heard of a Imperial IPA masked as a Christmas Beer in a silly attempt to change a beloved tradition for sweet Holiday brews. This Imperial IPA is actually a no BS beer – truthfully very bitter and in all earnestly a bit on the heavy side. All in all brewed for all occasions – celebrating your firstborn, sending the kids away for summer camp, it’s Monday and this beer is scoring 100.

Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of Ungstrup/Pinball. Pours a cloudy deep golden with a white head. Sweet fruity nose with lots of citrusy hops. Solid body, solid malt base, lots of fruit, a phenollic touch, a little doughy with a solid hop bitterness. Nice but not the most refined DIPA. 130711

Draught, KØ11. Mild grassy hop aroma. Cloudy dark orange colour. The flavour is nicely grassy with a good underlying malt base. Quite malty without getting sweet.

Bottle thanks to Sarah! Pours a clear orange gold with a white head that lasted throughout the beer and laced. Aroma has a good amount of pine with a pretty strong caramel and sweet grain backbone. Flavor starts with sweet grains and a hint of caramel but finishes with pine and a bit of resin. Sticky on the tongue.

Bottle shared by Marcus. Pours hazy orange gold with a creamy off-white head. Odors of pine and fresh fruit. Flavor is pale stone fruit, pine, and arguably citrus. Very American. Very delicious.

Sample at the Ale Wine & Spirits Evil Twin tasting on 05/19/2011. Pours a hazy amber-gold color with a medium thick off-white head that burns away to an outer ring eventually. Rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of piney hops and citrus. Medium body with flavors of citrusy hops, earthy malt and pine. The finish is earthy with some fruit left behind. Hopefully the 10% is still around to try because this one did not do much for me.
