This is one half of a Black and Tan drink. Not just any Black and Tan but the one where a toasted smug and hoppy fella get together and make a sublime beer balance. Mix the Yang & Yin together (or enjoy this flippant good Imperial IPA solo).

Review based on the BJCP2008 guidelines (style 14C). Bottle 35.5 cl - Batch unknown. AROMA: predominant malty aroma with some caramelisation. mild hop notes with a citric note. APPERANCE: amber color and slightly hazy. medium ivory head with good retention. TASTE: similar to the aroma with a predominant malty sweet flavour. some faint hop flavour exists in the background with a floral character. high bitterness that lingers well beyond a semi-dry finish. PALATE: medium body with medium carbonation. no astringency. OVERALL: an odd imperial IPA, too much balanced towards the malt, and lacking hop presence (aroma and flavour), maybe because it was bottled in 2013.
