Bottle. Brown color with tan head. Aroma is brown sugar, milk chocolate, syrupy. Taste is brown sugar, milk chocolate, unfermented, some spice of the spelt. Oily mouthfeel with low carbonation. Meh.

À murky brown stout with a thin mocha head. In aroma, sweet chocolate with herbaceous notes, licorice notes, OK. In mouth, sweet cloying chocolate malt with strange herbal notes, licorice, light bodied and unbalanced, not very good. Bottle from City?store Causeway Bay HK.

750 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. BB date 19. March 2015. ABV is 9%. Mahogany colour, beige head goes from moderate to none. Unpleasant sweetish aroma of wort, decaying fruits and dried fruits, hints of solvent. Low carbonation. The flavour is somewhat better, but very sweet. Caramel, molasses, mild sweetened coffee, dried fruits. Will not buy again.

Bottle, 75cl. A very small dark beige head sits on top of an almost clear dark brown body. Cocoa, chocolate, prunes, some alcohol and some pine cones in the aroma. There’s a nice bitterness in the flavor, with some alcohol and quite a lot of cocoa. It’s full bodied and lightly warming on the palate with a too low level of carbonation. Cocoa and some bitterness in the finish. Except the carbonation it’s a really fine beer. 141128

Bottle at home. 1 year old. The colour is deep brown to black with a small beige. Aroma of dried fruit, leather, coffee, roasted malt, forest floor, heather, cola, salt licorice and some smoke. The flavour is similar with nice roasted tones and warming alcohol. Has a slick and silky mouth feel, and a light bitterness. A stout with game tones, is balanced and tasteful.

Bottle 750ml at 9.0 % abv from Vinmonopolet, Bestillingsutvalget (Langnes). Clear rosewood coloured body, hazy last pour. Dissipating tan-coloured head. Caramel and anise on the nose. Blended taste profile of anise, raisin and dark malts. Smooth mid-sweet malty ending. Fine bodied. A stout with a special twist, quite nice. (shared at the Tower of Power session, Tromsø 09.04.2014).
