Bottle. Very dark brown colored, almost opague. Salty licorice aroma with barley syrup. Sweet, somewhat salty flavor with licorice and prunes. Full bodied, thick mouthfeel. Well balanced.

Brygget høst 2005, så over best-før. God, med unntak av at vaniljen har blitt litt underlig prangende og ikke helt fersk. Men øldelen er god

Old rating rerated 01.12.2015, (last) 0,5l bottle (vintage 2006, batch #256 bbd. 02.09.2009) shared with friends @ home:
Nice light brown creamy mediumlasting head. Aroma is mild and slightly dry roasted, dark malts, chocolate, caramel, toasted coconut, mild whisky, grass, minerals, oak, hints of unripe banana and licorice. Taste is slightly dry watery, weeds, dark malts, minerals, grass, ashes, burnt caramel, chocolate, paper, sour-ish burnt coffee. Medium bitterness, watery and mineraly mouthfeel. Probably way over the top by now, as the taste and mouthfeel is watery. But it’s still very nice, and I really whish they’ll start making this one again, as it was always my favorite Christmas beer from Nøgne...

Årgång 2005. Väldigt gott, lagom bittert, choklad smak (likt chochlate stout) men inte lika krämig eller mastig. Väldigt gott. Glöm ej att det är ofiltrerat det finns en bottensats.

Black colour with a beige head that leaves a fine lacing. Roasted malt and chocolate aroma. Full body with fine mild sweetness and some bitterness. Nice complexity in the flavour. Coffee, roasted malt, vanilla and a light fruitiness.

500mL bottle, pours a dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma smells infected or just plain expired, with sour medicinal notes, sour berries, and cough syrup. Flavour of cough syrup, sour berries, medicinal notes, and mulled wine. Definitely either past its prime or infected (probably the former). I can see what it would've or should've been, but this is quite offensive.
