On a recent trip through Belgium visiting the monastery breweries, we discovered an excellent barrel aged ale that had an incredibly satisfying flavor combination. Aging in oak barrels added a memorable richness, that we seek to achieve with this barrel aged Belgian-style barley wine-style ale. Being the ideal celebration beer to release on our 5-year anniversary, Barrel Aged Naked Evil is fermented with both British and Belgian yeasts and aged in whiskey barrels for a lightly spicy twist on this old-world beer style. Sweet malt flavors will become smoother and rich dark fruit characters will build with time to add a wonderful complexity and depth of flavor.

Bottle, thanks for sharing! Pours a clear reddish amber with a gray head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has lots of sweet grains and barrel with a touch of caramel. Flavor has caramel and toffee notes with sweet grains and a bit of light barrel.

Burnt gold appearance. totally flat. Smells like mashed rotten bananas and whiskey.Acidic with a ton of sweetness. a lot of banana and fusel intensity. malt balance is nice, mild bitterness. this is not a bad beer the nose is a little weird.

What a fantastic beer: shared 650ml bottle on 23rd Aug 2014 at the Midlands meeting. This is what a bottle share is all about, trying stuff you’ll never normally see and finding something like this. The sour Stout before this was not to my taste but this beauty was awesome and my beer of the day. Dark orange hue to the body, not much head, orangey/white in colour. The nose was sweet malts, rich dark fruits and vanilla. My taste buds loved the oaked bourbon mellowness combined with the sweetness from the malts, caramel and toffee hints blending into the rich dark fruity flavours. Lovely and smooth, very, very drinkable.

Bottle @ Midlands Tasting Group Aug 14, at Richie’s Hop Palace. Pours deep amber with off-white head. Another great big Hoppin Frog beer. Sweet and strong with a strange, slick mouthfeel. Whisky, oak, vanilla, ripe hedgerow fruits & cassonade. A big boozy barnstormer of a beer.

Bottle 650ml (PBF IX)
Clear amber color, small white head. Sweet fruity aroma, light vanilla. Medium-bodied. Sweet, fruity grapey, vanilla, liquerish vanilla. Nice dessert and much better than oversweet Sweet Evil.

Bottled@PBF IX. Amber colour, small off-white head. Aroma is liquorice, mild glue, some slight alcohol as well as ripe fruits. Flavour is alcohol, some mild glue, ripe fruits and some wooden notes. OK balance, but alcohol is a bit too evident.

65cl bottle @ PBF Ⅸ
Vertical with Belgian-style Barley Wine-style Ale
Aroma is sweet with caramel and some whisky tones. Flavour is rather sweet and heavy with whisky tones, caramel, some warming alcohol and . This is better, I’d say. The whisky notes make this more complex and balanced - it eats the disturbing sweetness.
