Austrian Weizenbock, tasted as Rieder Feinster Weissbier Bock; stumbled upon this by coincidence in some Dutch pub deep in the Dordogne region in France. Very thick and frothy, snow white, stable and frothy head, hazy straw blonde robe with pale peachy tinge. Aroma of strong banana milkshake, dough, apple cake, relatively outspoken ‘smoky’ phenols (almost like burning spices or even incense), pineapple, freshly cut pear, cloves, meringue. Sweetish onset – though, expectedly, less sweet than the nose suggests – with a truckload of Belgo-German banana ester next to notes of pear and raw pineapple, fizzy carbonation but still fluffy, bit soapy mouthfeel thanks to the wheat malt. Soft malt sweetish middle, evidently very wheaty, with an elegantly phenolic finish, spicy and a tad smoky, softly bittered by a dash of earthy, slightly grassy hops. Banana and wheaty sweetbread, however, keep prevailing in the end. Correct, classically conceived and very easily drinkable Weizenbock, can easily stand next to the classic Germans in this style.

Tap. Murky yellow color with creamy white head. Aroma is bananas, cream, cheesecake, estery. Taste is full on milky yeasts, banana cream, sweetish warming finish. Medium carbonation. Good Weizenbock!

very hazy yellow colour, minimal off-white head, which disappers fully within some seconds; aroma and taste of banana, lemony notes, wheat, orange zest, some tropical fruits, boiled vegetables and hints of dried tomato; great beer!

330 ml bottle as "Rieder Weißbier Bock" from Beer Store Vienna, bb 05.08.16.
Pale orange, hazy body, with a massive, stable, creamy, lacing, off-white head.
Aroma of banana, vanilla, bubblegum, clove, orange, bread, some dried fruits.
Taste follows this pretty much, with a quite creamy feel.
Medium, slick mouthfeel, with an average carbonation.
Finishes spicy, yeasty, fruity, medium sweet, a bit dry, with a subtle alcohol warmth.
Very nice. Lighter bodied for this style and not very different to a normal Weizen, but very well balanced and quaffable, with a distinctive creaminess. Not a special style example maybe, but I enjoyed this more than expected.

BOTTLE 33 CL as Weissbier Bock. Cloudy yellow, creamy white head. Aroma of grassy hops and peppers, lemon zest, pear and pine-apple. Some vegetable notes of sun-dried tomatoes. After a while, the tomatoes go away and the clove gets bigger. The taste is strong and juicy, with the flavour following the aroma (including the tomatoes) The finish is grassy bitter with a mild crisp astringency. Quiet nice, even if slightly flawed - 3,4/5.

As Weissbier Bock. Cloudy straw to pale gold colour, average frothy white head, diminishes slowly, fair lacing. Rich aroma, wheat, banana, coriander, clove, yeast, citrus. Taste medium sweet, slightly bitter, wheat, light banana, bit woody. Medium body, oily to watery texture, soft carbonation, aftertaste mild bittersweet, herbal and spicy notes, a bit harsh on the palate. Nice though the aroma promises more than taste and aftertaste deliver.
