While the malt and hops give this beer an amazing copper color, medium body, and a smooth mouth feel; it’s the yeast that sets this one apart from other amber ales. Inspired by Belgium’s beer, women and mussels we thought it would be cool to give our Amber a little Belgian touch. We accomplish this by using an “almost Belgian” yeast strain producing similar esters and flavors commonly found in more traditional Belgian beers.

On tap. Poured a cloudy amber with a white head that dissipated to the edges. Aroma had notes of sweet grain and caramel with a slight berry and citrus undertone. Flavor began with the same sweet grain and slight caramel note but a growing berry and citrus note make the finish interesting.

Odd Amber Ale. Somewhat fruity sour in flavor. There’s a whole bunch of apples, pineapples, grapes and cloves in this beer’s profile, along with a relatively strong medicinal phenol quality. I don’t detect any hop character, but then I can really only taste a funny combination of yeast flavors. Vaguely reminiscent of a watered down Consecration, which is the odd part.

Bottle thanks to bu11zeye. Pours kindof flat with an amber hued body. Aroma of pear, caramel and some hops. Pear, fruit and caramel in the flavor. Some hops. Also an odd off-flavor. Not great. Bottling issue?
