Is there any pairing more perfect than sour beer and stone fruit? We start with the very best fruit: yellow nectarines grown in the bright Central California sun at Blossom Bluff Orchards, along the banks of the King’s River.

Picked at peak ripeness, we add the nectarines to a sour base beer, combining the funky flavors of brett with a bright acidity to highlight the fruit. The result is something special: golden hued beer with fruit aromatics jumping off the glass, the last of summer captured in a bottle.

Bottle shared by Pilsnertest, many thanks! Hazy peachy golden with a white had. Aroma is tart with preserved nectarine, citrus and grass. Taste is similarly tart and sour with mainly citrus, nectarine finishing heavily sour. Puckering, but on the right side of the acetone barrier.

(375ml bottle from boxbeers.dk) Pours a very lightly hazed medium gold with a small white head. Aroma of nectarines, apricots, tart pale plums, light white wine, citrus hints, a bit acidic, soft funk and oak accents. Flavour is lightly juicy golden sour, some white wine quality, a little citric bite along with unripe pale pit fruit and a little ripe peach or nectarine. Finish has a touch of funk and oak, some peach or nectarine skin, tart and drying. Light to medium body with very soft carbonation. A fruit character that straddles the line between soft and well-integrated. Solid.

375 mL bottle poured. Pours a cloudy tang orange color with a quick fading head. Much thanks to Tcon for both the bottle, and the reminder that I haven’t had this one yet. It’s been my goal to try every Almanac offering, but it’s getting harder and harder with the constant similar series releases, as well as the taproom finally opening, and all the exclusive local stuff. All the times I begged for a taproom to open in my ratings over the years, it’s finally come true, and I need to get down there. Very fruit heavy aroma. Juice like. Sour. Flavor is a funky, sour orange fruit up front. A sour slice of orange for sure, though I can’t call it nectarine specific. My beer knowledge beats out my fruit knowledge. Barely. Neither are all that strong. Love the sour fruit profile on this. 8/10 in sourness. Tart, long juicy finish. Another solid capture from these guys. Still haven’t done a bad sour, as far as I know.

Grunt fill from ALbertsons. Milky yellow gold body, kind of flat, bubbly head fades fast. Big fruity aroma, but plenty of sour essence coming through too. Taste brings lots of pucker, very sweet, but nice stone fruit flavors from start to finish. Lngering sourness, dries out a bit as well. Works well with gardening.

375ml bottle pours a hazy, peachy gold with a ring of white head. Nose has peach, apricot, nectarine, orange, white grapefruit. Flavor has that unripened stone fruit, passionfruit here, nectarine, white grapefruit. Finishes both tart and fruity.

Bottle at 2017 Ratebeer Best. Pours a hazy pinky peachy color. Sourish aroma. Med body. Flavor starts tart immediately and then becomes delightfully mellow. Good presentation of the fruit. Delicious.
