Bourbon Barrel Aged Stout (12% ABV Keg / 13% ABV Bottle)
Necessary Evil is an imperial stout aged for 8 months in bourbon barrels. Aromas of sweet bourbon, vanilla and oak from the ageing process combine with rich chocolate, roasted malts and caramel from the base beer. Soft and silky, this full flavoured stout has layers of complexity and flavour unlike any other. Best served around 10–12 °C, so take out the fridge for a while before serving. Whilst this beer will age well, there is no time like the present, so we recommend opening and enjoying it as soon as possible.

Bottle from the Thornbridge online store. Rich nose of caramel, coffee, bourbon, dark chocolate, raisin, nuts.Taste is dark chocolate, Turkish coffee, brown sugar, bourbon, treacle toffee.Sweet coffee linger on the palate.Soothing alcohol heat. Boozy sweet finish.

Dark roasted and sweet malty with opulent chocolate, caramel and a touch of brown sugar, prominent bourbon soaked wooden accents through out, slick mouthfeel and full bodied, bourbon infused dark malty finish. Lovely.

Clear purple brown beer, no head. Aroma: lovely, caramel, bourbon, vanilla, liquorish, laurel, marzipan, sweet impression, some almond, Amaretto. MF: soft carbon, medium to full body. Taste: nice, good roast, alcohol, bitter, more alcohol, sweet, chocolate, soft roast, herbal. Aftertaste: more roast if pretty gentle though, alcohol, caramel, sugary touch, more roast, vanilla touch, bitter finish, very nice stuff!
