A sumptuous huge stout that hides its alcohol beautifully. Aromas of raisins, coffee, toast, chocolate and licorice. Delicious and thick in the mouth, there are plenty of citrus hops to balance out the other flavours. It's got a nice balance with a sweet, but not cloying, finish.

Kaiju! Beyond the Black River BA Imperial Stout 11% Deep black with a long lasting tan head and whiskey and dark chocolate aroma. Quite full bodied and smooth with rounded carbonation. The taste is big whiskey barrel and maple with chocolate caramels. Really quite nice.

From a 375ml can on 5/1/2022. Pouys near black with a small tan head. Has a pronounced aroma, of dark chocolate, licorice, aniseed and soy, with hints of coffe and smoke. Taste very much follows suit, licorice, aniseed and soy up front, dark chocolate bitter/sweet, with a warming, boozy bourbon finish, featuring roasty, coffee and smoky notes. Syrupy mouthfeel, moderate carbonation. A very solid big impy, but not a standout for mine.

Great peril awaits beyond the Black River, so make sure to scan the QR code and check in in case it's a Tier 1 and you have to go click and collect for a fortnight. Can. Black with a quickly fading tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, mocha, dark sugars, spices (juniper? mace?) blackcurrant. Full bodied and oily but dryish for the style with acrid malt, singed toffee, more coffee than chocolate, some licorice and/ or anise, oak. Fairly bitter at the end. Pretty good, opened up a little as it warmed above 12C. Perhaps will mellow a bit for next winter.
