On tap at the brewpub. Pours with a hazed golden body and a white head that lasts and leaves great lace. Aromas are very hoppy, grainy, grassy. Some light phenol/pepper notes, lemon balm and tangerine zest. Flavors are fruity (esters and hops), citrus, grassy hop character, some phenols. A light malty sweetness (not crystal) throughout with a bitter balance overall. Medium bubbles and dry. Tasty!

light golden color. Lots of lemongrass and piney lemon nose. Body is thin, but light and refreshing. Not necessarily bad. Fun beer. Zippy hoppy finish. A blonde ale to extreme. Love it.

Defenestration is an exceptional beer. It’s an interesting and delicious shoehorning of RR’s gigantic IPA style into a Belgian. I would love another glass of this beer because there was a lot going on that I didn’t catch from my initial time with it. The beer pours a bright gold with a nice head. The smell was more of RR’s west coast hoppiness than I was prepare for. It looks like a Belgian but smells strongly of pine, citrus and floral hops. The hops come through in the flavor as well but there are also some earthy notes and a complexity fruitiness that is difficult to describe. There was caramel and bread in the balancing malt. That big West coast hoppiness in a Belgian is a fine treat.

(10/28/08) Draught sample at the brewpub in Santa Rosa. Clear golden color. Aroma of fruits, hops, some earthy notes, yeast and soap notes. Sweetish flavor with some malt, bread, caramel, fruits and a bitter hoppy finish with some spicy notes. Medium-bodied.

Draft. Amber beer with an off-white head. Nice hoppy (grapefruit/spice) aroma. Hoppy grapefruit flavor with yeast, spice, and backing malt. Medium body. Decent bitterness for a Belgian.. Grapefruit and spice lingers with some yeast.

Draft at RR; they were out of empty growlers and I forgot to bring one, so I can’t take any to Odeed; Nose is mixed Belgian spices and yeasty; clear gold with a medium, glass-lacing, offwhite head; lightly bitter with some cloves and caramel and yeast; finish lightly bitter.
