On tap at Russian River, pours a hazy blonde with a small white head. Nose brings out subtle Belgian yeast, cereal and toasted bread. Flavour is similar, bringing out cereal, Belgian yeast, and floral notes. Nice and dry on the palate, finishing zesty and florally. Not Russian River's most adventurous Belgian beer, but very well-brewed nonetheless.

Sample at the brewpub. This beer pours a hazy golden color with a medium white head that evaporates steadily. Strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of grassy hops and biscuit malt. Medium-bodied with flavors of herbal hops, doughy malt and yeast. The finish is mildly tart with a fruit and malt aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

Growler from Liz. Came with a RR glass too. Pours hazy orange gold with a frothy/foamy white head. Aroma very fresh fruit. Belgian yeast esters. Maybe a touch of earth or barnyard. Med + body. Flavor is somewhat earthy Belgian - spice, fruit esters, particularly some clove and banana. Maybe pineapple. It’s very fresh tasting, and I’m thinking there’s a hop mix which has fruit and earth hop aspects. Certainly not pine. Anyway it’s finishing dry and rather hoppy, tho the hop isn’t the harsh NW citrus burning style. Good ale.

2 oz. sample draft at the brew pub in Santa Rosa, California. The pour is slightly hazed golden, with a white head. The aroma is floral hops, honey, grass and bready malt. Fresh nose. The taste is slightly bitter floral hops, delicate honey sweetness, orange fruit, and finishes dry with a hint of Belgian yeast. The palate is medium bodied, though the dryness thins it out nicely. Bitterness lingers pleasantly. Nice.

Tap at RR Brewpub. It pours hazy straw yellow, with a white head. The nose is melon, red apple, dough and grass. The taste is red apple, melon, floral, hay, grass, leaf, dough, touch of tart fruit and tinned nectarine, with a bitter finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. The tart fruit and bitterness balance it out. Nice.

GABF 2011 - not really a Belgian IPA - more like a super dry, flinty and moderately hoppy Belgian ale, which is completely fine with me, as RR excels at stuff like this - as mentioned, it is crazy dry - nice mix of moderately peppery hops and spicy phenols - a bit of flintiness and dry, mineral character - light and crisp - I want to drink a gallon of this stuff.

Draught at Russian River Brewery. Cloudy gold with a nice lacy head; sparkling. Lemony nose, yeasty, doughy. Rich malt flavor with lemon, dough, bread, a bit funky; very strong hopping goes nice with the sweet lemon. Oily and a bit heavy body. Nice, but a bit too thick and yeasty. Could be cleaner, though good and shows off hops well.
