Grains of Truth is Ommegang’s ale honoring the harvest season. Using barley, oats, wheat, and rye, we’ve brought the mood of fall to life with vibrant and flavorful passion.

Brewed with balance in mind, Grains of Truth reveals a smooth and creamy mouthfeel with light toastiness and gentle sweetness. Bright amber in color from the mixed malts, the beer is balanced with delicate hopping to counter rather than overpower the malt profile.

Big foamy pour from a bottle, liquid is very much like any pale ale, perhaps a tad darker. When lid was popped there was this clean fresh beery aroma. First taste is strong bitter something, its as if its trying to be orval but goe2 over the top in personality. Yes, does not hide its alky content too well. Now, with a second pour, I see there is plenty of sediment on the bottom of the bottle. That big head just stays put and goes rocky. Has that yeast effect that I have known east end to have. Quite coarse at times. Does have some fine creamy co2 in there. overall, much more personality than this lager lover can appreciate. Somewhat medicinal on the finsh. $2.75 at morinos in sylvania.

Pours deep gold into a snifter. Huge white head with excellent retention recedes leaving spider lacing. Sweet pumpernickel and wheat aromas. Medium bodied with sweet caramel upfront turning to spicy rye in the lasting finish.

Bottle in NYC. Pours faintly foggy gold with a fine, white cream. Nose has some yeast, toasty sugars and bready malts. Medium sweet flavor, toasted malts, light rye tang, some dry citrus, spices, yeast and wheat. Medium bodied with lively, creamy carbonation. Dries out nicely in the finish, some more yeasty bread, light toast, hints of citrus fruits, spices, toasty sugars. A very nice beer. Pretty dynamic.

The Half Pint, NY tap ($7): Pours an amber color with an off-white head. Aroma is Belgian yeast, with caramel and rye. Taste is certainly complex for an amber ale, which this should properly not be called in my opinion. Nice Belgian fruitiness holding things together with the amalgam of different malts and grains. Complex enough, but sessionable. I am like.

Bottle. Pours a clear amber with a white head that dissipates slowly to the edges and laces slightly. Aroma has a note of earthy grains with an underlying note of a bit of rye and smoke. Flavor has a bit of a rye and a hint of smoke backed mostly by earthy grains that have a bit of sweetness to them.

Muddy bet color. Aroma has a but of spice and yeast along with malty goodness. Medium, almost chewy body. Flavor has rustic notes, yeast, spicing, sweet malts, biscuit. It's a Good one.

12 ounce bottle from Beer Run. Pours a golden color with a slight hazy. Large frothy, rocky tan head. Good head retention. I can already detect a pleasant aroma coming from this. Aroma of citrus, oats, wheat and and herbal finish. The taste is citrus, soft malts, bitter herbal hop, faint nuttiness. Medium bodied. This is quite nice.
