This kind of beer comes from England and is considered to be the English beer heritage. In Britain they make around 250 kinds of the bitter beer. For the first wort hopping, we use Columbus hop, for the second English Fuggle, which is the most famous English hop and its pedigree goes back to 1875, and for the third hopping we use English hop Bramling Cross. For dry hopping we use Bramling Cross as well. Thanks to the English hops, the character of the aroma reminds of red currant and oranges. The hop aroma is less intense than with IPA beers. Our ESB is less zesty, which is typical for this kind of beer. Higher temperature (around 13 °C) helps the aroma and the taste to fully come out.

Tap at Automat Matuška. 5.7%, 55 IBU. Let's imagine this was 0.4l, and I mean imagine, for 79+tip that was pushed on me to make. Not ideal. Hazy brownish-amber body, beige, everlasting head. Cookie, strawberry jam aroma, miiildly dusty in a good way. Lean, watery taste, minerally strawberry jam, trace citric, fairly caramelly. Actually fun really. Slightly too watery but drinkable. Fun!

Draught at Beer Time. Hazy chestnut colour. Very small head. The flavour starts off very fruity, notes of red berries. Turns roasted but is still fruity. Clean bitterness.

Draught. Deep golden colour with a mediumsized off-white head, which leaves some lace. Aroma is fruity, caramelly, some wooden, nutty and mild floral tones as well. Flavour is nutty, some floral, wooden and mild citrusy tones along with some resin and mild freshly cut grass. Good bitterness in the finish.

Handpull cask at the Beer Geek Bar, Prague. Poured a slightly hazy medium amber colour with a bubbly white head. The aroma is malt, light, floral woody hop. The flavour is moderate bitter with a malty, light sweet toffee, woody hop bitter palate and a lingering bitter finish. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Once it got a little air it was so much better. Somewhat true to the style and very drinkable.

Bottle from Pezinská pivná pumpa. Clear gold with steady white head. Decent herbal aroma. Lovely and smooth bitterness. It's not an easy drinking but very good.

0,75 l bottle thanks to my mate Borut. Pours orange yellow with a finger of frothy white head. It dissipates quickly to leave thin vale and some nice lacing. Aroma has plenty of malt character, pollen, hay, slightly grassy, fruity, some citrus. Flavor is rich Czech pilsner malt with that typical pollen notes, biscuit, quite sweet with citrus rich citrus and tropical hop notes. Taste is quite sweet, starts light bitter with more pronounced bitter finish. Body is full, well rounded, texture is slick and carbonation average. Finish is long, bitter sweet with tropical flavor, melon maybe. Top beer, great combo of Czech malt and English style.

Clear amber with little white head. Aroma is grass, pils stuff, not much else. Taste is more pale ale-y, but still not much. Some slight bitterness and slight sweetness with a fresh sour note. Boring mouthfeel with average finish of more nothingness. Could be the shadow of a good beer.

Tap at Zlý ?asy. Golden color with white head. Aroma is herbal English hops, quite mild, hints of vomit. Taste is mildly malty, medium bitter finish. Oily mouthfeel, low carbonation. A nice traditional ESB, brewed to style very well!
