Vöörmünder, or the Parish Warden, is suitable for many occasions. Its silky softness will help restore peace when your chickens have thinned the neighbor’s garden or your cows have eaten his lilacs. This Brown Dunkelweizen gentle caramel sweetness and vanilla notes will help you through many difficult situations.

(Bottle, 0.5 l - batch 15085 - BB 06.12.18, from Sip Tallinn, 20180803) The beer poured dark brown and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had toasted malts, caramel and lightly spiciness. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were burnt rubber, sweetness, toasted malts and bitterness. Aftertaste was sweet, burnt and bitter. A mediocre brew with process flaws.

500 ml bottle from Põhja RIMI. Pours darker brown, quite carbinated and some beige foam is persisting even after a short while. A bit rubbery nose with strong nutty caramel notes, feels lightly tart. Taste reveals fizzy carbonation, lots of caramel - but not too sweet, relatively dry actually. Caramel bitterness coating the mouth and lingering even longer, feeling a bit artificial. Can drink this, not too bad.

Bottle, BB 18.10.2017 (from Koht). Pours copper brown with beige head. Aroma is very fruity, banana, citrus, caramel, some rubber. Flavor is sweet, fruity, caramel, banana, some rubber, wheat. Carbonation is on the high side. Overall: bit dirty, but dunkelweizen is really hard style to get it right (most craft breweries cannot make weizens) and this is decent effort (read: doesn’t try to cover the flaws with over hopping or making it extremely sweet).

50cl flip-top bottle from Väike Roosa Õllepood (Kriistine).Pours Surprisingly dark brown (almost looks a close to black) and rather clear with a fairly modest beige head. Somewhat fruity slightly bready and the banana notes comes fairly late when it has gained more temperature. Moderate sweet with fruity and malty flavours and a light acidity. Not so wheaty, but rather clean and certainly drinkable. --- Beer merged from original tick of Vöörmünder on 29 Apr 2017 at 21:28 - Score: 6
