Almost black colour, frothy off-white head, average height, ok retention and lacing. Smells of light roasted malts, resiny/pine and citric notes (expecially grapefruit). Nicely fresh and fairly intense. Taste follows the aroma, average sweetness and bitterness, with just a slight hint of bitterness in the finish; overall in very good balance. Again pretty fresh and quite intense given it’s friendly abv. Light to medium body, average carbonation, very easy. Overall it’s very much your standard black ipa, but it’s highly quaffable (33cl is way too quick), balanced, clean and refreshing.

330 ml bottle. Clear, deep amber body with a creamy beige head that fades. Nice aroma of dark malt, mild toast and piny hops. Medium sweet, mild dark malt, some fruit, more pine and moderate bitterness. Medium body and OK aftertaste in the same direction as the main flavor. Well, kinda interesting as a session BIPA but on the other hand it shows quite clearly that a BIPA needs more alcohol. This one gives you an impression of what a BIPA is about, but it’s definitively not a good sample. Probably made with the Norwegian grocery marked in mind and that’s what it is. Decent within its limitations. Still prefer the regular Lucky Jack, that’s a classic by now.
