Had to have a Lahnsteiner after a long but beautiful canoe trip down the Lahn in perfect weather with Charlotte. Brown to auburn with a creamy head. Aroma promises prunes and burnt caramel. Taste is bitter with a sweet, prune-like tartness underneath. Full-bodied, moderate to mild carbonation, chewy, a bit clingy. Dry at the end with a faint vinous note. Somewhere between a bock and a barley wine. Nice one.

8 3 8 3 16Draft at Festivale der Bierkulturen, Cologne. Clear amber with a small tan head. Aroma of malt, caramel, toffee, light herbs, citrus and overripe fruit. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and light moderate bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Sampled @ CRAFT Frankfurt 2017. Klare rötlich goldene Farbe, geringe weiße schaumkrone. Geruch süß holzig, kräftig malzig, reifes Obst. Geschmack ist intensiv süß holzig, reifes Obst, Vanille, alkoholisch.
