Grapefruit Puncher

Hazy golden color. Big grapefruit, pugnent citrusy nose. Nice big malty backbone. Lots of grapefruit but hops and bitterness are reduced. Decent IPA that really focused on grapefruit.

Keg at PP Carlsbad, 21/04/14. Lightly hazed pale golden/yellow with a moderate off white swirl atop the glass. Nose is punchy hops. pink grapefruit, light pine, orange squash, citric rind. Taste comprises big pink grapefruit notes, mandarin, pine, toasted malt, straw, lemon peel. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close laced with hop bitterness. Solid grapefruit infused IPA.

06/01/2014 Brasserie 4:20 (tap). Bevuta al Pizza Port Tap Takeover 2nd edition. Dorata, limpida, schiuma abbondante, non molto persistente. Naso esplosivo, agrumi, resina, freschissima, davvero impressionante. In bocca è amara decisa, gli 8 gradi non si percepiscono minimamente, si lascia bere bene, con un finale secco e pulito. Corpo medio, carbonazione media. A lungo andare risulta un po’ monotona e stancante, ma i primi sorsi lasciano il segno.

Tap at Pizza Port Carlsbad. Pours clear, yellow-gold, lightly effervescent, with a white cream top. The aroma holds pithy citrus, pine needles, suggestions of grapefruit. The grapefruit character really comes through in the flavor. It’s not too bitter. Lots of spruce notes, some grapefruit flesh and rind. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Mildly resinous on the finish with more juicy grapefruit, spruce, modest pale malt sweetness, hints of alcohol warmth. Novel .

On tap at Pizza Port Ocean Beach, pours a hazy / clear pale golden with a small white head. Aroma of citrus zest, crackery malt and pine. Flavour brings out loads of pepper, more so than the grapefruit / citrus notes. This is a peppery hop bomb, with awesome drinkability. Excellent.
