Old King Cascade is our first packaged Barley Wine. We've kept this classic style just that; classic.

Sweet and malty with a subtle low carbonation, this beer bursts with notes of dates and dark fruits.

24th November 2022 Can. Thanks to Colin. Almost clear brown amber beer, small pale tan head. Light palate, remarkably light, good fine carbonation. Smooth malts, cream and caramel, a little brown sugar. Suggestion of maple. Modest ripe fruits, a kind of imaginary barrel thing going on. Trace of vanilla. Spicy light finish. Corking barleywine. Drinks very easy indeed.

Can shared in London - cheers to Cloin. Pours clear reddish-copper with a bubbly, tan head. Medium to big sweet flavour, rich semi-dark malts, a little earth bitterness, stewed berries, a little caramel. Full bodied, oily and chewy, with fine carbonation. Warming finish, lightly sticky, more hearty malts, semi-dark fruits, figs. Very tasty.

Dark brown, little bit of tan head. Smell is sweet, with lots of dried fruits, dates, figs. Soft body, bit boozy, but not very heavy, bit dangerous. Sweet and rich, plenty of the dark, dried fruit (raisin, fig, date). Very nicely balanced and real tasty.

(Can, 0.44 l - BB 14.01.2022, at CoolHead Taproom, 20211210) The beer poured dark brown and cloudy. Its head was small and lightly brown. Aroma had toasted malts, prunes and grass. Palate was full bodied and warming with medium carbonation. Flavours were prunes, raisins, toasted malts, grass, sweetness and bitterness. Aftertaste had raisins, malts and bitterness. A delicious malty brew with notes of dark fruits. The high ABV was well hidden.

Can thanks to Stuu666. Appearance - deep red to brown. Fawn head. Nose - cranberry and toffee. Glacé cherry. Taste - more red fruit, cranberry, raspberry and red cherry. That's all engulfed in toffee and pancakes. Palate - medium bodied, rich texture and sweet but long taper on the finish. Overall - very nice.

Can thanks to Stuu666. Pours clear dark red-brown with a thin demerara head. Aromas of light sherry, caramel, fruit cake, banana. Taste is all of that and a bit of leather. Stewed fruit, toffee apple. Light sweet finish. Boozy, but nice.
