Brewed on the banks of the Heathcote River in Woolston, Cassels Woolston Pale Ale is a traditional Pale Ale with distinctive New Zealand characteristics. This beer offers a combination of punchy hop flavours balanced out by a trio of malts. Late hopping with Nelson Sauvin and Motueka varieties brings fruity, wine-like aromas to sit on top of the lightly toasted malt base. Rich and rounded with a smooth mouthfeel - tastes just like home to us.

HOPS: East Kent Goldings, Motueka, Nelson Sauvin
MALTS: Ale, Cara, Vienna

On tap at Canterbury Brewers Collective, Riverside Market, Christchurch. Pours amber with high carbonation. Thin white head. Subtle nose of grain and malt. Patchy lacing, medium body. Grainy taste, lingering bitter grain/lemon finish. Nice pale though it's full of Pils characteristics.

328ml bottle also from lowcostbeer.com, 1 month past its BBE I think, can't tell if month is 05 or 06. Cloudy dark orange, small white head, modest retention. Aroma of sweet malts and light fragrant fruity notes such as grape from the hops. Taste is again quite fruity, grape, grapefruit, orange peel, biscuit sweet malt base, nice bitter bite in the finish. Nice NZ pale ale.

328ml bottle, what a strange volume, must be a reason. Obtained from LowCostBeer with a BB 11th May 2021. I drank it on my patio on 5th Jun 2021, so a month out of date. Slight haze in the golden body, weak white head. Decent enough blend of malty sweetness and a hop bitterness without any citrus intervention, which is a bonus to me as i am tiring of beers that are too fruity.
