The construction of Bernard Lovell's telescope began in 1952, but by 1957 completion was bogged down by a tangle of problems.
Then, in October of that year, news came of the Worlds first artificial satellite, Sputnik 1.
This injected Government urgency into the task, and completion, anticipated to take months, was achieved in 48 hours.
On October 12th it tracked the Soviet launch rocket travelling at 5 miles per second, 100 miles high over the Lake District.
A first for space exploration and a first for Jodrell Bank.
The hops in this beer are Marynka & Progress.

Cask @ Castle Hotel, Manchester. Golden with a small head. It's bland hoppy with a dirty nose.

2nd December 2017: cask pint in The Royal Oak (Tiddley Wink) Ellerdine Heath, Shropshire. Decent amber coloured body, off-white crown on top. I initially thought 'dish water' rather than 'dish dash' as the aroma and taste wasn't too great at first. Luckily it sorted it's self out and I began to dissect it a little. Almost balanced, with a low malty backbone without sweetness it came across as fairly dry with a dull hop bitterness.
