Generously hopped, delivering a bitter punch, balanced out by its strength. This light amber ale offers subtle hints of honey and spice upfront with a light berry fruit finish.

Cask @ The King's Arms, Church Stretton following an especially wet evening ride in the hills nearby. Clear copper pour, off-white head. Comes across warm, earthy and peppery. Not diggin this at all.

Cask at Coopers Tavern, Burton on Trent. Pours a hazy golden amber with minimal scummy off-white head but good lacing. It has a bitter and hoppy aroma. Traditional hops are to the fore again in the mouth, along with marmalade, ginger and some hints of spices, all on a base of caramel. There’s a juicy texture and a little trace of underlying sweetness as well. All leading to a pretty dry finish. This is pretty good – and gets better the more you taste it. Also, it is an IPA (English) rather than a best bitter / ESB.

On cask @ the Rose & Crown, Ludlow. Appearance - deep copper. White head. Nose - orange and caramel. Taste - orange, caramel and green apple edge this time, too. Palate - medium bodied and very sweet indeed. Overall - too sweet, lacking bitterness completely.

2nd Sep 2017: cask half pint in The Old Town Hall Vaults, Whitchurch Shropshire. Copper coloured body, clean, clear and bright, on top a white crown. Seemed to be a lot of caramel in my pour, strong in both the aroma and taste. I wonder if this years version (it's a seasonal) is a different recipe to last years. Anyway my sweet tooth really took to this, even if it was a bit one dimensional in nature.
