A golden ale traditionally fashioned at 4.0% ABV.
Brewed with pure mineral water, home grown malts and new world hops, with a twist. Penny Pincher is “spiced up” with crystallized ginger and Motueka hops from New Zealand.

The result is an easy drinking, thirst quenching, balanced bitter that’s full of flavour with an inviting aroma and subtle notes of warming ginger.

Brewed with your benefit in mind.

Another beer which belies its name – no cheaper than any other Joules beer ! Cask at Rose & Crown, Stafford. Pours a golden yellow with a small white head and good lacing. The aroma is mainly malty, but with hints of floral hops. Rather sweet and watery in the mouth, with flavour of golden shred marmalade with ginger undertones. Malts and biscuits are luirking there as well. Finisah is reminiscent of rotting apples ! Pretty bland really – I’ll stick to Slumbering Monk in future !

Cask at Hop Blossom, Farnham. Floral and hay aroma. Hoppy also. Amber. Thin decent coverage from the white head. Initial sugary sweetness, before a light bitterness comes in. Malts and hops. As I drank more I became aware if an increased bitterness in the finish - I noted citrus, in hindsight the ginger - certainly I’m not keen on ginger nor this development. Soft. Watery.bling but restrained finish. Very drinkable but overall bland.

Cask handpull at The Parcel Yard Kings Cross. Clear golden brown colour no real head. Slightly flowery floral bitter. Some lime flavour. Not much bitterness or condition. Hmmm oh its supposed to be ginger. Then yes some ginger but not in a good way. Bitterness does build a bit.

Cask pint in The New Inn, Newport, Shropshire on 10th Jan 2017. Thought it might be cheap because of the name, but it was £3.00 a pint (that is a lot for a 4% ABV beer around here). Anyway it poured a clear golden colour and had a lasting white crown of foam on top. Citrusy nose and bitter in the taste, did not notice any ’ginger’ in the aroma or flavour, decent enough though.
