A full-bodied deep amber ale with an emphasis on malt flavor. Munich and crystal malts contribute greatly to the complex character found in this fine ale.

On the afternoon of Tuesday 17th May 2016 I visited The Tustin Brewery and had one of the most disappointing flights of beer I have ever had. Beer number seven of the eight and the best so far. Mahogany red with just a collar around the rim for a head. Malts rule this semi-sweet brew with molasses pushing through a caramel flavouring and aroma.

Tap at the brewpub. Pours ruddy brown with a beige head. Aroma is a little nutty with roasty malt. Med body. Flavor is a little nut, a little chocolate. Cross between amber and brown? Gets a citrus note in the finisf.

Draft. A hazy red beer with a thin lazing tan head. The aroma has notes of malt, caramel, and butterscotch. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt and caramel combined with lighter notes of butterscotch.

On tap. Pours with a clear, reddish brown body. Tan head. Aroma of caramel and light chocolate. Taste is chocolaty, raisins, bread and very light hops. Some dark fruits. Well made but not my thing. Way to much Crystal. Taste really like a Scottish 70/. Maybe just needs about 1% peated malt to make a great one. Medium bubbles. Sweet finish with a high FG. Not my style of amber ale and both the bartender and brewer agreed.
