Hand-pulled pint in my local Wetherspoons on 24 May 2013. Brown with a ruby hint: creamy head in both texture and colour, which also held well and gave good lacing. Malty front, back and sides: roasted/toasted with mild coffee and dark chocolate flavours. Dry tasting with a semi-bitter finish. OK and pleased I found it.

Cask at Baxter’s Court, JDW - London. Oh, Baxter is a rascal! This offering pours clear, brown-gold with a lasting, tan cream head. Nose holds subtle cocoa and precious little else...maybe some burnt leaves. Light sweet flavor with dry dirt, some further cocoa, a bit of English breakfast tea (I know, it’s weird), leaves, mild bitterness. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Lightly sweet to finish with more of this bitter English breakfast tea thing, some leaves, burnt toasty malts, suggestions of cocoa. Not a great beer but it does provoke a thought or two.
