Tap at Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA. Pour amber gold with a creamy white head. Aroma seems moderate pine/citrus with light malt. Med + body. Flavor seems a bit spicy/hot pine/citrus. Or something I’m not familiar with. Not wintergreen, but .... Maybe super rye? Nah. Strong caramel backbone. Lots and lots of hop. Quite tasty.

On tap at Harry’s Hofbrau as part of the SF Brewer’s Guild night. MASSIVE orange and citrus nose. Pours a hazy orange that is almost neon. I like this color, but could see where some do not. Head is pure white with moderate sustaining of large bubbles. Slight patterning down the sides. A little soapy looking. Taste is overt orange and citrus, with moderate high pine and bready malt in support. Moderate high bitterness helps the all-around effect on this beer. Very surprised, and very enjoyable!

Sample at The Bistro DIPA-Festival, February 8. (my first one from this brewery) Clear dark golden with a white head. Sweet with hops, citrus, fruit, some malt and caramel. Notes of alcohol in the finish.

In the brewery tap on 5th Feb 2013, during ’Strong Beer Month’. Pours a pleasant amber colour, clear, with a full beige head. Mixed bag of flavours and smells: hops obviously rule throughout but there is an undertone of semi-sweet caramel/malty molasses in the brew also. Citrus based hop aroma, comes through into the taste nicely but doesn’t take over completely. The alcohol level is noticeable but not to the beers detriment, it suited the strong flavours well.

Tap at Churchkey for the CBC. Poured a hazy orange-amber color with a medium sized white head. Aroma was citrus and some pine notes, tropical fruits, alcohol noticeable. Flavor was citrus, tropical fruits, booze is there. Liked the hop character but sweetness and alcohol were a bit much.
