Bourbon barrel aged Doppelbock-style lager. A modern riff on classic style, Convex Refraction adds bourbon barrel aging and carefully crafted malt to the long-standing spirit of Doppelbock. Brewed with caramelized Triticale malt from Haus Malts, this hefty lager aged in bourbon barrels for 14 months after extended lagering. Panda at home, thanks to Dave, 01/10/22. Black with a khaki cap that thins to edgeing. Nose is ripe dark fruit rinds, rich bourbon exhaust, vanilla, spice, oak, toffee melt. Taste comprises sweet malts, fruit cake mix, light spice, toffee, dates, chocolate, big bourbon kiss, raisins, brown sugar melt. Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a balanced rising. I'd never had said 'Bock!' blind tasing this but it's a solid BA affair ... probably call it an American Strong myself.

Flaska från Bier Bazaar, 2021(?). Mörk, något grumlig brunsvart, näst intill helt svart, men mörk-khaki krona. Bränt socker, karamell, tobak, läder, söt råglimpa, marsipanbröd, bränd brödkant, massor av fatkaraktär som lyckas tränga sig igenom. Massiv kropp.

Really top notch beer. Has that classic german celebrator bock taste... tons of malt complexity. With just a touch of buttery barrel age flavor. Beertemple ams

Dark mahogany pour with a medium light beige head that diminishes steadily to a dense film. Small patches of lace. Aroma of roast malt, nuts, caramel and fruit. Full-bodied with flavors of caramel malt, chocolate, roasted nuts and ripe fruit. The finish is sweet with a caramel malt and fruit aftertaste. Good Doppelbock all around.
