This is our 2020 release of our sort-of-flagship Monsters beer: it follows the old US style, a rich body with solid bitterness from the hops (Cascade & Ekuanot). It'll keep mellowing if you age it: previous 'vintages' have aged rather nicely. There'll be some barrel-aged versions too, down the line, as Dogs Of War.

Panda at home, thanks to Kenneth, 05/03/24. Deep mahogany brown with a beige cap that thins to a swirl. Nose is stewed fruits, toffee, dark malts, molasses, brown sugar sprinkle, grains. Taste comprises toffee, fruit cake mix, figs, dates, brown sugar melt, kiss of booze. Medium bodied with bite, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a balanced kiss of alcohol. Tidy enough sipper of perhaps lacking some depth for the double digit boost.

Almost clear deep amber beer, small bubbly tan head. Smooth palate, airy and mildly dry, decent fine carbonation. Soft malts, a little creamy sweetness and a nice darkish toffee streak. Ripe hops, ripe citrus and ripe peel, fits in well enough with the malt base. Light smooth pine with some savoury aspects developing towards the end. A little alcohol spice as it closes out. A good if standard barleywine, again, another year or two would not hurt.

Bottle from Thirst Class Ale. Clear amber body with a thick off-white head. No visible carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of caramel, marzipan and toffee apple and a twist of black pepper. Flavour of toffee, honey, amaretto and rye. Medium to full body with a smooth mouthfeel. Light fizz. Rich and peppery. Sublime. My favourite Torrside beer yet.

Bottle from Hoptimism. Appearance - deep amber to brown. Tan head. Nose - fresh berry fruit with an orange peel note lurking. Taste - mince pies, but also fresher notes. Woody/boozy edge. Palate - full bodied, rich but fairly balanced. Overall - very nice. Interesting how the 2018 has now moved towards dried fruit character.
